OSMTH recognises the unique longevity and continuity of the Christian presence of the Armenian Patriarchate in the Old City of Jerusalem. OSMTH honours the role that the Armenian Apostolic Church plays in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. OSMTH is also deeply grateful for the spiritual protection which His Beatitude Archbishop Nourhan Manougian, the Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem, has extended to our Order.
OSMTH notes the efforts made by the Armenian Orthodox Christian community to support educational establishments in Jerusalem. Sts Tarkmanchatz School (the School of the Holy Translators) is located in the Armenian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem and provides primary and secondary education for both female and male students. The School was established in 1929, under the jurisdiction of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem, and has educated over 2,000 pupils since then.
